MAXSAT refunded me

just for the record I did get them to refund. Probably me suggesting that I might involve trading standards as they were selling fake goods helped. Note - they did not refund the shipping costs or pay for me to send it back so I am about £15 out of pocket. I have now bought one from Lavatronic and it has ended up costing me a bit more but at least I now know that I definitely do not have a fake Amiko Alien satellite receiver which will be bricked at some future s/w update.

Why is the word "clone" acceptable when it really means fake ?  (in the case of Amiko Alien satellite receivers). Ebay have not stopped people selling these fake boxes.

Blogs what are they good for ?

I like the look of the blog but can't find the time to write anything. I do have lots of things to say but no time to write it !

The issue of super injunctions (SJ’s) has annoyed me ..

Why do people in the public domain demand privacy ?

Most of the people who are suggested as having an SJ have become rich and famous because we the lowly British public has paid for something for which ultimately they have got money from, whether it is paying to see them play football, subscribed to SKY, bought a shirt with their name on it, watched them on TV or at the cinema or even voted for them. Therefore I think we have a right to know what sort of person they really are. We can then make a decision as to whether we want to continue to contribute to their wealth !

I know that sometimes this information could embarrass their family but then they should thought about this before doing the things which they know were wrong and want to hush up now. They ultimately are the ones who have created the embarrassment for their family and therefore should feel regretful and apologise !

I especially dislike the politicians that moan about wanting more privacy. They seem to think they are the ones setting the terms of the deal by which we vote for them. This is wrong. They are not, we are. If they want us to vote for them then they should accept that they need to be totally transparent. If they don’t accept this then get out of politics.

This is a democracy. If a person wants us, the public, to put them in a position of power then I think we have the right to know exactly what sort of person they are. How can we trust these people if we don’t.

It may or may not matter that a politician has had an affair or does something morally questionable but it is for us to decide, not the politician.

Its Ash Tuesday in Vienna

Well as soon as I said to everyone that I haven't heard a thing about the volcanic ash cloud it pops up again ! May be it is my fault, especially as I am now in Vienna.

The plan is just a short trip. Fly Tuesday, come back Wednesday but as the ash cloud come further south may be I might be stuck here a week. I hope not as we are planning to go to Thailand on Saturday !

Of course being stuck in Vienna for a few days would mean I would miss the election. I've already voted (by post) so I have done my bit but it will be interesting to see the result.

I am home now

Ok so I am pretty lazy when it comes to this blog thing as I got back on Saturday and didn't bother to write anything else but it was all very straight forward and boring really. The plane was 4 hours late taking off but that happens anyway with Virgin. No signs of dust clouds on the flight, no strange engine noises. Just a simple direct flight back to London.

Bizare but I have not seen any further mention of the Volcanic ash cloud in the news.

Its raining

Yes thats right, here in "Sunny" Las Vegas its raining. Temperature has dropped. It got cold yesterday and today is raining, alot. Went outside for 5 minutes and got soaked.

We have kept up our cosmopolitan food tour... Monday was Thai/Malaysian food (SATAY), Tuesday night was Spanish Tapas (FIREFLY) and last night was Indian (GANDHIS). All these are within walking distance from our Hotel, so we are not short on choice for eating. Even after my illness last week may be I will put on weight this trip. If only I could take a swim and get some exercise, never mind.

In theory I should be in Copenhagen right now but even if I was in the UK I would not have gone. Easyjet ran the flight to Copenhagen but canceled the return. All other flights back from Copenhagen were full and so I would have been stranded in Copenhagen...and can I get a refund from Easyjet ? No chance !


We are planning to go to Thailand next month but it seems a civil war is breaking out there at the moment so thats another trip in doubt ! Best off just staying home in future
